Partner, Director of Financial Services

Paolo obtained his Honours degree, Bachelor of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business, York University with a specialization in finance and economics.  Prior to forming FC Financial Group Ltd. where he acts as Director of Financial Services and Managing Partner, he was employed at The Great-West Life Assurance Company as a Living Benefits Specialist.  In this role, he successfully managed and trained Financial Advisors and Insurance Agents on the merits of using insurance products to mitigate financial risk in their clients’ investment portfolios and financial plans.  He consulted with executive management teams and their advisor workgroups across the Investors Group, Freedom 55 Financial, London Life, Laurentian Financial, and the Great-West Life Gold Key channel platforms, helping grow their respective insurance and financial service practices.  Paolo is a Registered Health Underwriter and is currently pursuing his CFP designation.  He brings significant insurance strategy, financial planning and economics expertise to FC Financial Group Ltd. which operates independent financial services brokerages in the disciplines of insurance, investments, mortgage finance and corporate finance. 

Concurrent, to this role, Paolo acts as Director of Mortgage Finance to Mortgage Cents Inc., an independent mortgage brokerage serving the residential and commercial mortgage needs of Canadians.  Mortgage Cents Inc. is and a wholly owned subsidiary of FC Financial Group Ltd. and part of The First Canadian Group of Companies™.  He is a founding member of Windrose Private Equity Partners, a private investment council for accredited investors.

In the years prior to his employment at The Great-West Life Assurance Company, Paolo served as a financial analyst at First Canadian Capital Corp., compiling research on micro- and small-cap public companies and implementing relevant investor relations strategy.  He served as a proprietary equities trader at Swift Trade Securities Inc., and held branch level positions at both TD Canada Trust and The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

Paolo serves as the Director of Finance and Treasurer for Courage Canada - Hockey For The Blind.  Courage Canada is a national charity and not-for-profit organization.  The organization was founded in 2008 by Mark DeMontis, after his dreams of becoming a professional hockey player were crushed by diagnosis of a rare condition known as Leber’s Optic Neuropathy, an optic disease which left him legally blind.  The organizations mission is to provide the opportunity for visually impaired youth to learn, develop and enjoy the game of hockey in a safe and fun environment.  Help instill leadership characteristics such as courage, confidence, and sportsmanship both on and off the ice in their respective communities.  Promote healthy and active lifestyles among all youth, and create opportunity for those with visual impairments to learn and love our nation’s game.  www.couragecanada.ca
